This recipe calls for the following products in the Elevated Pantry:
INGREDIENTS NEEDED:
- 1.5 cups of SPROUTED Chickpeas
- 2 teaspoons of BLack to My Roots
- 2 tablespoons of Dripped Out Sun-Dried Tomatoes
- 1.5 - 2 large lemons, juiced
- 1/2 teaspoon of cumin (optional)
- 2-4 garlic cloves
- 1/2 cup of olive oil
- 1/4 cup of tahini
- 1/2 cup of water
- sea salt to taste
OPTIONS FOR TOPPINGS:
- olives
- fresh parsley or cilantro (chopped)
- sesame seeds
- sprinkle of BLack to My Roots
- whole sprouted chickpeas
- olive oil
- lemon juice
- sliced cherry tomatoes
- more dripped out sun-dried tomatoes
DIRECTIONS:
Blend all ingredients until absolutely smooth! Just how smooth your hummus comes out is dependent on your machine -- the type of blender (high speed blender like a Vitamix works GREAT), or food processor you have. You may add more water or oil little by little, if needed.
Put your hummus in a bowl OR on a plate, and add your choice of toppings.
You may serve your hummus with raw crackers, sliced bell peppers, sliced cucumbers.. You may even add your hummus as a spread on sandwiches, lettuce wraps, tacos... It's also really delicious paired with falafel. Get creative!
NOTES: Sprouted chickpeas are made with dry chick peas/garbanzo beans. Don't know how to sprout chickpeas? Don't worry -- it takes some time, but it's a fairly easy process! You may check YouTube for videos and how-to's. In some grocery stores, you may even be able to find LIVE chickpeas that have already been sprouted!
